Our story

My name is Faranne Iman, but most people know me simply as Fara. I was born on an Air Force Base in Illinois and spent my childhood moving from place to place as a military kid. Growing up around constant change gave me an early appreciation for creating a home that feels warm, grounded, and personal, something that would later become the heart of my work.

After settling in Illinois near St. Louis, I went on to earn my Bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and later my Master’s in Criminal Justice Administration from Lindenwood University. I spent several years working in the legal field and with the State of Illinois, all while raising my son, Jaedan, my mini assistant and unofficial junior business partner.

Like many, my life shifted during the 2020 pandemic. With the world at a standstill, I found myself looking for a meaningful creative outlet. What started as a simple home project quickly sparked a passion: transforming overlooked, worn, or forgotten furniture into pieces full of beauty, purpose, and life again. With a lot of trial, plenty of error, and an endless desire to learn, I discovered a craft I genuinely loved.

Today, Furniture by Fara is the result of that journey- a blend of craftsmanship, artistry, and intentional design. Every piece I refinish or customize is handled with expert-level care, from prep to finish. I specialize in modern, elegant transformations with smooth finishes, elevated hardware, and a signature attention to detail.
